Question: I have a couple questions that I would like to know. I was a virgin while with my first boyfriend, whom I'm still with right now, but he accuses me of lying because I did not bleed or have a painful experience the first time. Why is that? He also accuses me of having sex with other people because he says the skin around my vulva is darker now then it was before. He says that the darker color is cause from having sex too much, is this true? Is there any way to make the skin a more pinker attractive shade? Also, is there anyway for me to tighten myself so that there is more pleasure for my boyfriend? I sometime have this white creamy stuff that comes out but it is not sticky, what is it? And what is the best way to rid the bad odor smell and taste? Would douching be a good way to rid odor?
I heard that if you apply yogurt down there it help prevent yeast infection, is this true? If so where exactly would you apply it and what type of yogurt if best (plain or any would work)? And how often would this be recommended?
Answer: Your boyfriend is misinformed, as a result of common myths concerning virginity and the external female genitals. Only about 50% of women experience bleeding the first time they have intercourse, and if anything pain means there is something wrong, though it is a common experience. For more information please see the pages about Virginity and the Hymen.
Dark pigmentation of the vulva is not the result of sexual activity, alone and with a partner, but changes within the skin cells. This dark color is normal and is the result of genetics. The color, size, and shape of the vulva is addressed on the page about Clitoral and Labial Size.
Learning and doing Kegel exercises will help improve the strength of and your ability to control your pelvic muscles. This will allow you to control the amount of friction during intercourse, and can improve your pleasure too. Kegels are addressed on the pages about Virginity.
The white creamy fluid you report is likely your natural vaginal fluids. To learn more about this please see the pages about Hygiene and Vaginitis. Scent and smell are addressed on those pages too. Douching is not recommended and may actually cause infections rather than prevent them.
Yogurt is used to treat yeast infections, not prevent them. See the link given below for the details.
