Question: I really like your website, especially the advice on shaving. I have a personal issue that I did not see addressed on your website. I have dark hair around my nipple. I am very insecure about it. I am not sure if this is normal or something that many or even other women have. I was wondering if you knew anything about this and what I can do to get rid of it.

Answer: While not openly talked about, this is normal. Like facial hair, it does cause women some anxiety. I am not aware of anything that can be done about it, other than perhaps electrolysis. I am not sure that it is worth the pain and expense. I suspect some women pluck the hairs out. I would not recommend shaving this area. If you have a lot of body hair you may want to ask your doctor to check your hormone levels, just to be on the safe side. Some women naturally have more hair than others, having dark hair just makes it more noticeable. The hair growing around your nipples may surprise your partner, but I would just tell them to accept it or go elsewhere. It is normal even if it is unexpected.
